Andre Dessenberg really improved during the offseason, but he is still flying under-the-radar on the recruiting trial. However, he hopes to change that this season.
“Everything is still the same,” said Dessenberg. “I have offers from Delaware, Norfolk State, and Hampton. Everybody else wants to see a highlight tape from this season.”
A couple other schools are showing interest in the 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver.
“Cincinnati told me they were going to keep track of me,” he said. “They also want to see my highlight tape. ECU also told me that they wanted to get me up there for a few games”
Dessenberg will not rush his decision.
“I’m not sure (about official visits),” Dessenberg said. “I’m going to try to get to some games first; from there I will talk to them (the coaches) about visits. I’m going to wait until after the season to make my decision.”
The Ocean Lakes playmaker knows what he is looking for in a school.
“I want feel comfortable around the wide receiver coach,” he said. “I also will be looking at the school and the team.”
While recruiting is on Dessenberg’s mind, his main focus is his season at Ocean Lakes.”
“We just want to go 1-0 every week –we preach that one” he said. “Individually, I want to be a player that the coaches can count on. I also want to be a better team leader and just do better than I did last year.”
Ocean Lakes is off to a 2-0 start and has outscored their first two opponents 111-0. Dessenberg has been a big part of that success. He has sat out the second half of the first two games, due to his team’s big lead. However, Dessenberg still has 12 catches for 171 yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensively, from his safety spot, he has six tackles and four pass breakups. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Ocean Lakes takes on Cox High School this Friday.
