Gallaspy visits ECU

Sophomore stats: 1,757 yards and 20 touchdowns

Southern Guilford (Greensboro, NC) running back Reggie Gallaspy is one of the top prospects in the 2015 class and visited ECU recently. Inside ECU Sports spoke with him about it.

Reggie Gallaspy, a sophomore standout at running back last season for Southern Guilford, has a laundry list of schools showing interest. The East Carolina Pirates offered Gallaspy during the spring and he has since visited campus.

"It was my first time there," the 6-foot, 205-pound Gallaspy said. "They gave me a tour of campus, the football facilities, the stadium and I watched a scrimmage. I enjoyed watching them hit for real and watching the formations to see how the team worked together. It was as good as I expected it to be."

Gallaspy went on to say that the visit helped build his knowledge of ECU. He enjoyed the chance to see coaches and players working together and thought it looked like everything was clicking.

ACC schools have often overshadowed the Pirates in recruiting and it seems to be the same old song and dance in Gallaspy's recruitment. His previous top three was UNC Chapel Hill, N.C. State and Duke during the summer, but he's hearing from so many big programs that idea has changed.

"I had a top three but I don't have one anymore," he said. "I have so many schools interested and could have more offers coming soon so I'll be leaving it open."

Gallaspy is hearing from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Indiana, Oregon, Miami, Florida Southern, California, Kentucky and Texas, that's just to name a few. He also mentioned Ohio State, Clemson and Tennessee are really on top of his recruitment and want to see his junior year before they offer.

Going to camps and combines was a regular thing for Gallaspy this summer.

"I went to the National Underclassmen Combine in Indianapolis," Gallaspy said. "I also went to Michigan camp, two Ohio State camps, Tennessee camp, Alabama camp, and camp at Clemson and Wake Forest. I also went to the Rival camp in Texas. "

Previously, Gallaspy told Scout.com that he planned on enrolling early at the school he chooses. He is currently torn over the idea.

"Right now I am battling between early enrollment and graduating with my class," he said. "If I do it I'll make the decision after senior football season, but if I don't decide to early enroll than I'll wait until signing day to commit."
