Commits visit for game day

East Carolina had four 2014 commits attend their home opening win against Old Dominion. Inside ECU Sports caught up with each of them about their game day experience.

2014 commits who attended ECU vs. ODU:

Ayden-Grifton (Ayden, N.C.) safety Drew Turnage:

"Going to the game was a great experience," the 6-foot, 185-pound Turnage. "I thought I knew what it was like, but seeing 50,000 fans all bleeding purple and gold was something special. It made me hungry for success and humbled at the same time. It was good to see the team get the win and get better, that's all that matters."

Green Run (Virginia Beach, V.A.) defensive end Shaun James:

"The game was very exciting," the 6-foot-4, 240-pound James said. "There was a lot more people there than I expected, (Dowdy-Ficklen) was packed. My dad, my friends and I enjoyed ourselves and loved the atmosphere."

Jack Britt (Fayetteville, N.C.) offensive lineman Kyle Erickson:

"The atmosphere at the game was amazing," the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Erickson said. "I saw tailgating and Pirate gear everywhere. When the game started the stadium was packed and the crowd was into it the whole time. The team played really well and it was a great experience to see the opening game."

Middle Creek (Apex, N.C.) wide receiver Curtis Burston:

"The game was great," the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Burston said. "The fans were absolutely amazing for every second of it. I love the atmosphere at ECU and everything about it."

In addition to the commits who attended, multiple 2014 recruits made it out for the ODU game. The Pirates added their newest 2014 commit Friday September 6 in Knightdale (N.C.) wide receiver Quay Johnson. His time at the home opener was what solidified his commitment, he told Scout.com he had his mind set on committing to ECU right after he left the game.

Virginia Tech coming to play ECU next weekend should bring with it more potential commits. Inside ECU Sports will have all of the coverage.
