According to reports out of Las Vegas, Mike Hamrick, East Carolina's athletic director for the past eight years, has been chosen to be the new athletic director at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Hamrick began his career in athletic administration 22 years ago at UNLV. In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal Hamrick said "UNLV was my first job and I told my wife it would be great to come back to Las Vegas someday." Hamrick, 45, is expected to be introduced to the Nevada Board of Regents on Friday in Reno.

Hamrick was one of three athletic directors interviewed for the vacancy. He was chosen over Montana's Wayne Hogan and Idaho's Mike Bohn. The three finalists were picked from about 70 applicants.
