Pirates fall flat... again

Posted Sep 30, 2003

I really tried to reserve judgment on this team and this coaching staff, but after witnessing the Pirates’ lowly performance against Houston, it’s obvious that it will be a long time before this program regains any semblance of its former self.

There’s really not much to say about tonight’s 27-13 loss, so I'll be brief. The Cougars (4-1) on both sides of the ball dominated the Pirates (0-5). On defense the Pirates gave up 437 total yards. The offense netted only 200 yards. Again, ECU quarterback play was inept.

It’s unfortunate that the first, and probably only trip that the UNC Tarheels ever make to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium next week will most likely feature two winless teams. The only suspense surrounding that game is finding out which team sucks less.
