Troth to Transfer

A 1-11 football season at ECU is followed with the announcement that its most-heralded recruit ever is transferring.

Paul Troth, once thought as the guy that was going to build upon a solid legacy of excellent ECU quarterbacks was granted a release from head football coach John so he can pursue his football career at another school.

According to published reports, Troth is considering Liberty, Elon, William & Mary, Massachusetts, Delaware and Valdosta State.

After passing for 2,315 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2002 under then head coach Steve Logan, Troth lost the starting job to Desmond Robinson this year. He was later demoted to third team behind James Pinckney.

In Saturday's season-ending loss to Southern Miss when he came into the game after Pinkney injured his knee in the second quarter and passed for 198 yards against the Golden Eagles, including a 65-yard touchdown pass to Damarcus Fox. On the season, Troth threw for 380 yards on 34-of-69.
