There's Joy in Greenville Again.

Posted Oct 10, 2004

The East Carolina football team sorely needed a win, in any form over anybody. Fortunately, anybody came to town in the form of Tulane.

Quite the enigma is Tulane’s football program. Only a few short years removed from an undefeated season, the administration at the New Orleans’ school almost pulled the plug on the program, but I digress.

No matter one’s opinion on ECU coach John Thompson or the football program’s current state of affairs it is fabulous that the cheers of a Pirate victory once again emanated from Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Saturday’s 27-25 triumph wasn’t pretty, but just maybe it will be the spark needed to instill confidence in players, coaches, and fans alike. We can only hope, and wait.
