After recording 83 tackles and three interceptions as a junior, DB Tony Morgan has accumulated five scholarship offers
from the likes of Colorado, East Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina and UNC.
Coaches have been telling the rising junior that they like what they’ve seen on
film.
"Everyone’s recruiting me as a DB," said Morgan. "They look at my film and
they tell me they like what they see of me at defensive back. I think they like
how I move around the field, how I cover defenders and how I come up and make
tackles. I’m physical at all times on the field."
At 6-1, 190 pounds, Morgan has good size and this past weekend, recorded a
4.52-second 40-yard dash and 27.7-inch vertical jump at the Shrine Bowl combine
held at Greene Central High School.
While South Carolina and UNC hold a slight, early lead- East Carolina has
moved into Morgan’s top four along with Clemson. Morgan talked about his
interest in the Pirates.
"They’re rebuilding right now so they’re trying to get all the top players
that they can," said Morgan. "They’ve been recruiting me real hard. They just
came up to the school Friday and they’re trying to get me to their one day camp
so I’m going to go down, check them out and see how they do."
NC State is also making a push for Morgan and will host him on a visit this
week.
"I’m looking at NC State, too," he said. "I’m supposed to go visit them at
the school on Monday on an unofficial visit and check them out. So they’re still
in the running. They’ve been recruiting me but not as hard as the other schools.
But I think they’re about to pick it up. I had a chance to meet coach Archer at
junior day."
