William Brown's Stock Takes Off

Few players have seen their stock jump faster this spring than William Brown from Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, NC. He burst onto the scene at the Shrine Bowl combine held at his high school several weeks ago and he has since backed that up with impressive showings at the Scout.com combine held in Charlotte as well as the adidas Elite Camp held at NC State.

After measuring in at 6-3, 210 pounds at the Shrine Bowl combine, Brown proceeded to rip off an impressive 4.42-second 40-yard dash. He also posted a stellar 33.6-inch vertical jump and 4.23-second shuttle.

Brown proved that wasn’t a fluke when he ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at the Scout combine and posted a 35-inch vertical jump.

Just a one year starter at QB for Greene Central, Brown is still very raw at that position. However, his eye-popping numbers on the combine circuit have caught the attention of several schools and with his overall ability and athleticism, there’s little doubt that he will emerge as a major in-state target before all is said and done. Several schools, including East Carolina have made sure to get in with the budding star early.

"I’ve talked to coaches at North Carolina A&T, UNC and East Carolina," said Brown. "Actually, I think I’ve talked to ECU about three times."

In addition to those three, Brown is also receiving interest from Tennessee, LSU, Virginia and NC State.

For now, he has five schools that have risen to the top of his early wish-list.

"My top schools right now are UNC, Virginia, LSU, East Carolina and Tennessee," he said.

Brown talked further about his interest in the Pirates.

"I really like their offense," said Brown. "It’s like our high school’s and I love the spread offense. I like throwing and running but mainly I like throwing the ball. They like me as a QB and I’ve visited their twice. They’ve got a nice weight room. It’s really big and you can go in there and work on your speed and agility."

Brown will be attending a QB camp in South Carolina this summer and will also make stops at South Carolina, UNC and East Carolina.
