Muse hires Corrigan

Posted Nov 8, 2002

The hiring of former ACC commissioner and NCAA president Gene Corrigan as a consultant to help shape the direction of East Carolina’s athletics department was reported in the November 6 issue of the Raleigh News & Observer.

According to the News & Observer story by Al Myatt Corrigan was hired by ECU chancellor William Muse and is scheduled to interview ECU athletic director Mike Hamrick, several coaches, staff members within the athletics department, key donors, Pirate Club officials and some trustees during his visit.

Muse said Corrigan was scheduled to complete his evaluation process today but could return later if necessary. Muse said he expected a report on Corrigan's "findings, conclusions and recommendations" by the end of next week.

It is believed that several key non-ECU employees will be interviewed by Corrigan including several board of trustees members, most notably Charles Franklin, current Chairman.
