Torbush to ECU?

Posted Dec 9, 2002

According to a report in the Birmingham News, Alabama defensive coordinator Carl Torbush is talking with officials at East Carolina as a possible replacement for Steve Logan as head football coach of the Pirates.

In the report Torbush is quoted as saying, "There are possibilities out there. Any time you have some success you are going to have some interest. I would rather have it that way than the other way." He also stressed that his first choice would be to replace Dennis Franchione as head coach at Alabama.

Pirate fans remember Torbush as the man that built strong defenses as the defensive coordinator at UNC before assuming the role of head coach of the Tar Heels. As head coach he had a 3-year record of 17-18.
